Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool is een applicatie voor het verwijderen van schadelijke software van Windows computers.
Dit programma controleert je computer op infecties door specifieke en veelvoorkomende schadelijke software (waaronder Blaster, Sasser en Mydoom) en verwijdert een eventueel gevonden infectie.
Wanneer detectie en verwijdering voltooid is, geeft de tool een rapport weer met de uitkomsten, inclusief de ontdekte en verwijderde software. De tool genereert een logbestand genaamd mrt.log in de %WINDIR%debug map.
Opmerking!: Deze tool is geen vervanging voor een anti-virus product. Om jouw computer echt te beveiligen tegen virussen, moet je een anti-virus programma gebruiken.
