- One of the main additions to TeamViewer 4 is the new web browser based access mode that allows remote access to another computer via a web browser
- Remote control is done by an Adobe Flash 9 component, TeamViewer 4 web connector does not need any ActiveX etc. component and by that will also be usable in high-security environments where browser plugins and executable files are not allowed.
- The web connector requires a free TeamViewer account (but is not included in the Business licenses)
- NEW: Browser based 1:n presentations
- In addition to remotely controlling computers TeamViewer 4 now also allows to participate in presentations with a browser and nothing but Adobe Flash required
- Multiple participants are now allowed in a presentation session (up to 2 for the Free version, up to 5 with the Business and up to 10 with the Premium license)
- NEW: TeamViewer account system with presence state display
- TeamViewer 4 offers a brand new account system that allows you to store trusted partners and remote computers in your partner list in order to connect to those partners with a single click of the mouse
- The partner list will also include presence state display, so you will be able to see which of your partners or remote computers is currently online
- The accounts are stored on the TeamViewer servers and are by that portable - you will be able to log on to your account from any TeamViewer and even from the new web connector

- The additions to TeamViewer 4 don't stop here - there are other major new features in the new version:
- Remote system information: Get a system overview of the technical configuration of the remote system
- Performance tuning: TeamViewer 4 is much faster than TeamViewer 3
- Remote screen resolution: The resolution of the remote screen can now be remotely adjusted during a session
- Licenses, updates and backwards-compatibility
- TeamViewer 4 users will be able to connect to TeamViewer 3 without limitations
- However the other way, connecting from TeamViewer 3 to TeamViewer 4, is not possible due to technical and licensing restrictions
- All customers who ordered TeamViewer 3.x after October 1st, 2008, will be able to use their license key with version 4, the update is free for them.

- New features
- Web Connector - use TeamViewer via web browser: Through the newly developed web client you can now control remote computers via a web browser. The remote control works with Adobe Flash 9. Thanks to that TeamViewer 4 does not require Active X or any other security-critical components. Therefore, the web client is the perfect solution for environments in which no executables are allowed to be run or installed, for remote access on the road and for working from Linux machines. The TeamViewer Web Connector is included in TeamViewer Premium.
- Browser based 1:n presentations: Now also browser based presentations are possible. Your presentation attendees only need a web browser with Adobe Flash 9. Multiple attendees can join an online presentation at the same time (up to 2 in the free version, 5 in the Business version and up to 10 if you have a Premium license).
- Partner list with online status: With the new TeamViewer partner system you can establish single-click connections to partners and computers you connect to on a regular basis. Aside from that the partner list includes a status display so that you will always see which one of your partner/computers is online. The accounts will be saved on the TeamViewer servers and will thus be available anywhere on the globe - no matter from where you log on. The Web Connector also supports the partner system.
- Improved performance: Changes in the transfer protocol along with improved caching and compression methods make the new TeamViewer 4 substantially faster.
- Displaying remote system information: Retrieve detailed system information with a single mouse click.
- Changing the screen resolution remotely: The resolution of the remote screen can now be easily adjusted during a running session - to better fit the remote screen to your own screen or to increase the performance.
- Licenses, Updates and downward compatibility
- TeamViewer 4 users can connect to TeamViewer 3 without any restrictions. The software is fully downward compatible.
- A connection vice versa, i.e. from TeamViewer 3 to 4 is for technical as well as license reasons not possible.
- All customers who have bought a license after October 01, 2008 can permanently use their license key - the update for all those customers is for free.
