Mozilla Thunderbird is een stand-alone e-mailclient met alle denkbare functies aan boord.
Wizard voor nieuwe e-mailaccounts
Voorheen moest je alle IMAP-, SMTP- en SSL/TLS-instellingen kennen. Nu hoef je alleen je naam, e-mailadres en wachtwoord in te vullen en de nieuwe wizard zoekt de instellingen voor je op in onze database.
Eén-klik-adresboek
Het één-klik-adresboek is een snelle en makkelijke manier om personen aan je adresboek toe te voegen. Voeg personen toe door eenvoudig op het sterpictogram in het ontvangen bericht te klikken. Door tweemaal te klikken kun je meer details toevoegen, zoals een foto, verjaardag of andere contactinformatie.
Snelfilterwerkbalk
Met de nieuwe Snelfilterwerkbalk kunt je e-mail sneller filteren. Begin met het invoeren van woorden in het zoekveld van het snelfilter en de resultaten worden direct weergegeven. Je kunt je e-mail ook filteren op nieuwe berichten, labels en personen in je adresboek. Ook kun je een filter “vastzetten” of opslaan en in meerdere mappen gebruiken.
Tabbladen
Als navigeren met tabbladen in Firefox bevalt, zul je e-mail in tabbladen ook geweldig vinden. Via de tabbladfunctie kun je e-mailberichten in aparte tabbladen laden, zodat je hiertussen snel kunt overschakelen. Misschien wil je tijdens het beantwoorden van een e-mailbericht iets opzoeken in een eerder bericht. Via de tabbladfunctie kun je meerdere berichten geopend houden om het opzoeken te vergemakkelijken.
Weg met spam
Thunderbirds populaire hulpmiddelen tegen ongewenste berichten zijn bijgewerkt om spam voor te blijven. Elk e-mailbericht dat u ontvangt passeert Thunderbirds toonaangevende spamfilters. Telkens wanneer je berichten als “ongewenst” markeert, “leert” Thunderbird ervan en verbetert het zijn filterwerking, zodat je meer tijd hebt om e-mail te lezen die relevant is. Thunderbird kan ook de spamfilters van jouw e-mailprovider gebruiken om ongewenste berichten buiten je Postvak IN te houden.
Robuuste privacy
Thunderbird 3.1 biedt ondersteuning voor bescherming van gebruikersprivacy en bescherming tegen externe afbeeldingen. Om de privacy van een gebruiker te waarborgen blokkeert Thunderbird 3.1 automatisch externe afbeeldingen in e-mailberichten.
Verder nog bescherming tegen phishing, e-mailarchivering, extensies en nog veel meer.
