Dual Monitor Tools is an exceptional set of open source tools for multiple monitors in Windows. We highly recommend it!

Having a multiple monitor setup has to be among the most valuable tips to improve productivity and your overall experience. Users who switch from a single monitor to a dual monitor (or more than two) setup rarely are ever prepared to return to one.

There are some issues with multiple monitor setups however. Moving active applications across monitors isn't always easy, and setting a Monitor as the primary monitor can get annoying when you have to manually switch often (to fix video playback problems, for example). Maybe you want applications launched to a pre-configured position on a specific monitor? And as for wallpaper, how do you arrange wallpaper across all of your displays.

Dual Monitor Tools provides several tools to make your life considerably easier and enable you to get the most out of your multi-display setup.

Swap Screen
With the Swap Screen app, you can easily move active applications between monitors, or to a pre-configured position, by just using hotkeys. You can also minimise all windows in a specific display the same way. Additionally, you can restrict the freedom of movement of the mouse pointer between Windows if you so choose. This tool alone can make things so much easier for a power user.

Dual Launcher
This is an application launcher that supports launching whatever apps you set with just a few key strokes, and even automatically positioning them to a pre-configured location on your multi-display setup.

Dual Wallpaper
This gives you control over your Wallpaper setup. You can easily use multiple images, such as a different image on each monitor, or you can have an image scale across your entire setup.

Dual Wallpaper Changer
Can automatically change wallpapers for you at regular intervals or at every boot, and will even drag new images from sources as long as you use plugins.

DisMon
This tool can easily disable Monitors. You can disable any monitor you wish or change which monitor is the primary display. Gamers will certainly appreciate this tool as a lot of games have issues with multi-display setups and typically require you to disable secondary monitors.

Dual Snap
This simple tool lets you capture the screen of the primary monitor and display that capture automatically on any secondary monitor.

These tools are all available as part of the package but you don't need to install all five. Additionally, you can run Swap Screen from a portable device by copying SwapScreen.exe to it. You will also need to create a new blank file and name it "SwapScreen.config", a blank text document created in notepad will do as long as you get the .config extension right.
